From a young age, Dr. John excelled in sports.  But striving to be the best leads to injuries.  From broken fingers to a broken elbow, injuries were always something that needed to be addressed.  After being exposed to countless doctors, trainers, and therapists, his interest in helping people recover from injuries started.
Upon graduation from high school, Dr.  John pursued a degree in bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.  In college, his studies were a large priority.  This, in turn, allowed him to graduate with honors and molded Dr. John into the student and research oriented person that he is today.  He strongly believes in doing therapies that have been proven effective through research.  Therefore, he takes research of specific injuries/conditions seriously.

A couple of years after graduation, Dr. John formed an amateur motorcycle racing team with his older brother and his college roommate.  In his first full year of racing, his team won 2 track championships, 3 class championships, over 20 combined 1st place race finishes, and over 100 combined top 5 finishes.  But perhaps the most significant injury and “defining moment” that transformed his desire to help athletes and people into a passion, occurred on March 23rd of 2003.  On this day, Dr. John was racing in St. Louis, IL and was involved in a multiple bike crash that sent him to the hospital with a life threatening injury.  But, his struggles and pains during this whole experience will never be forgotten and they have, in turn, fueled his desire to help people get out of pain so they can live their life.

Dr. John channeled this desire to help people by going back to school and completing his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, IL.   He is a board certified chiropractor and can perform acupuncture in the state of Illinois.  He takes pride in helping people get out of pain via both his acupuncture training and his chiropractic training.  He believes that nutrition is an integral part of life and nutritional deficiencies and diet is one of the main causes of pain. His goal is to assist patients in lessening their pain, to help them achieve the health they desire, and to get them back to their lives as soon as possible.

He has an unyielding desire to help people who are in pain.  Patients enjoy the open and comfortable attitude that Dr. Wascow conveys.  They especially appreciate that he spends extra time with them to fully assess their injuries.

Since this life changing moment, Dr. John has concentrated his desire to compete by running sprint triathlons as well as 5k’s, 10k’s, and half marathon races.  In 2012, he completed his first (and probably only) Chicago Marathon, which is an experience he’ll never forget.
